Writing, submitting, and accepting a proclamation is a great way to be active within the North Liberty Anti-Racism and Social Justice group. March is Women's History Month, and the group needs some volunteers to take this task on to ensure North Liberty marks the observance.

According to the City of North Liberty, “A proclamation is an official announcement issued by the Mayor to recognize a day, week or month that will have a major citywide impact. The goal of a proclamation is to honor, celebrate or create awareness of an event, special occasion, cause or significant issue. They should generally be related to a community benefit or organization or City of North Liberty operations. In addition, the document should convey a positive message to North Liberty residents.”

Our group often submits proclamations in observance of months and days celebrating the many cultures, groups, and individuals in our city.

Writing, submitting, and accepting a proclamation on behalf of the Anti-Racism & Social Justice group in North Liberty is actually pretty straightforward and easy. Just follow the instructions linked below and stay in touch with the group administrators at arsjnorthliberty@gmail.com to make sure proclamations align with our group mission and values.

And note: timing matters! The City asks that proclamations be submitted at least 30 days in advance of the preferred council meeting, and it will take some additional time to coordinate with the group administrators to finalize the language before that. So be sure to think ahead!
