GROUP MEMBER FEEDBACK

Anti-Racism & Social Justice group members met in early August for a critical conversation about our collective direction, activities, and interests. A follow-up survey also provided opportunity for additional input and thoughts. Below are some of the key take aways from the meeting and the survey that show how group members are feeling and what they would like future group activities to look like.

Suggestions for future activities and direction:

  • Develop fact sheets about our community that can provide information for residents and policy makers. Topics could including things like affordable housing, hunger, etc.

  • Little Free Libraries: Build new library filled with inclusive books and messages, or add materials to existing Little Free Libraries.

  • Commission art within the city (sculpture? mural?).

  • Walkability neighborhood tours. Do all neighborhoods have equally safe sidewalks, lighting, etc?

  • Getting tweens and teens involved, including in interacting with city processes. Connect with youth council?

  • Add suggested reading to the group's website.

  • Continue to keep group members aware of issues!

  • Awareness of issues. Not everyone knows what they are or that they exist in our community

  • Ask if we can be added to the city's webpage of nonprofits.

  • Hold more opportunities for group members to get together in person, such as in-person meetings and family picnics. Encourage everyone to bring someone else.

What do you think? Do these ideas resonate? What sounds most exciting and worthwhile? Your thoughts are always welcome. Reach the group at arsjnorthliberty@gmail.com.

WRITING POSTCARDS TO VOTERS!

Following the input from August's meeting and survey, group members got together earlier this month to writing postcards to voters in swing states, encouraging them to get out and vote!

If you missed this postcard party, but are interested in sending out postcards on your own, there are multiple organizations through which you can register for your own batch! Here are just a few:

And of course, make sure you have your own plan to vote in the Tuesday, November 5th election! Need help voting or have questions? Send an email to arsjnorthliberty@gmail.com.
